What Did Jesus Say to You — Get Behind Me Satan

What did Jesus say to you this morning?

I often wish that I had lived in the time of Jesus, that I could have walked those dusty roads beside him, sat and listened to everything he had to say. I do long for that earthly connection — but in hindsight it scares me to death. Would I have better understood — or like Peter had the audacity to reprimand Jesus? Peter did just that! I like to think “I” would have understood, believed, but never would I ever?

Mark 8:33 — “Get behind me satan, for your mind is not set on God’s will or his values and purposes, but on what pleases man.” Honestly, I would have tucked tail and crawled back to a hole.

Then the question is “How many times have I done the same thing?” Didn’t want to hear the unpleasant, wanted things to be as I thought they were meant to be. So many times I have thought, if it was done this way or that way it would be so much more powerful, have more relevance, more anything… I, too, had my eyes set on what pleases man, how the world would view the situation, what it looked like in the eyes of others.

My prayer for me this morning is that MY EYES, my heart, my whole being may always be set on JESUS! Even if it takes me all the way to the cross.
