Colossians 4:5-6; Colossians 3:23-24
Today Is Friday!! How Did Your Work Week Go?
Today is Friday!! How did your work week go? Get lots accomplished? Were you happy to see your paycheck or did you feel disappointed? Do you feel like you did the best you could? That you earned every last penny of it? Did you give your best for every task assigned to you?
We are told in Colossians 4:5-6Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. To conduct ourselves with wisdom in our interactions with outsiders (unbelievers) make the most of every opportunity (treating it as something precious). To let our speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one (who questions you)
In Colossians 3:23-24And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. we are told that “Whatever we do (whatever your task) work from the soul (that is put in your very best effort) as (something done for the Lord and not men). You may get a paycheck from the company but the real benefits come from God.
I haven’t always liked my job, nor my boss but I have always felt like that when I clocked in for a shift that I was going to do my very best at whatever was asked of me that shift. Even before I gave my life to Jesus it was a thing I felt was what I should do. These days I know full well that what I do, how I conduct myself, my work effort is a reflection of Christ. It is him I actually work for, serve and that changes everything. What a joy it is to have a place in God’s plan to actually work for him. I’m old—er now and somedays it’s hard to roll out of bed and get moving but the pleasure it brings knowing I still have WORK to do is awesome. Know what? I’d do it even if there was no payout in the end, every single chance I’m given is an honor to represent Christ to a world who might not recognize him unless they see him through my life.
Working for God … who knew I’d ever amount to much, this is the best job I’ve ever had!
Love, Pam
