John 12:35

Got a Minute? I Have a Thought, Maybe More

John 12:35Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. Got a minute? I have a thought, maybe more. Why did you become a follower? Honestly, not some programmed statement but from your heart, off the top of your head.

This morning once again, I read John 12: 35 Jesus is talking to a group of Greeks, they came to see Jesus. I am sure they had questions. Jesus says to them ” If anyone serves Me, he must (continue to faithfully) follow Me (without hesitation, holding steadfastly to me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me) and wherever I am (in heaven’s glory), there will My servant be also. If anyone serves me the Father will honor him.”

That statement is pretty to the point. Serving Jesus comes with some pretty tough possibilities. Living like him is assignment enough, we are just humans after all. The knowledge that it comes with “suffering” “dying” ” servanthood” Hmmmmm… maybe we might be justified to rethink those. I see you! We all are into comfort, safety and living a good life, so those are heavy words. Yes, there is that reward thing, getting to be honored by the Father, getting to be with Jesus in his glory. Thing is it’s going to cost us, one way or the other. We are not promised sunshine and rainbows.

My life is grounded on doing “The next right thing.” every time, even if it costs me everything. Even if it hurts, even if I lose my very life. It’s not easy, sometimes not what I want to do, but Jesus requires it. My everything. Yes, he is worth it. Even without the promise of the Fathers honor, or a place beside him wherever he is, even without the promise of heaven. Worth it, every day in every way.

Think about it. Seriously. Make the commitment. See for yourself. Don’t take my word for it. it has been my greatest JOY and most awesome PLEASURE.

Let’s get together and share Jesus stories. I want to hear yours and to share mine. I have some real doozies.

Love, Pam

ps. One more thing this morning. God whispered in my heart this morning after I had ended with a Love, Pam … Love is a good, good thing but did you tell them that you also prayed for them?

That hit me in my spirit. Why is that harder to say than “I love you”? I answered, “That of course they knew if I loved them I also prayed for them.” Didn’t they? Maybe not. I do. Some may need to know the last more than the first. If that is you…

I prayed for you today. Love, Pam
