Somedays It Takes Everything You Have Left
Somedays it takes everything you have left in the reserve tank to fire up the engine and head out into the world. Today is that day. I don’t think I have one more hug left in me, I don’t know that I can sit and absorb one more inch of grief, despair or hurt. I don’t believe I have one more ounce of hope left in my bag to give away.
Does that sound maudlin, self-serving, pity party worthy, attention seeking?
Sorry.
What I do know is that I am not alone in this dilemma. Most of us have been there or are there at any given moment. What I do know is that it is just a resting place, a moment in a life worth living. Temporary. Even at its worst it will pass given a moment.
But for some, it becomes a pit that they can’t crawl out of, the days fly by and there is no relief. No matter how hard they try, work, plan, seek; life has them planted in a place of despair and hopelessness. A pit that only deepens with their struggles.
The overwhelming response from the world is that it’s their fault, they should do better, pull themselves up on their own bootstraps (have you ever grabbed hold of your boots and TRIED to pick yourself up?!!) I hear the response all the time, if they really wanted to they could/would. I also hear there is plenty of resources out there for help if they would just go seek it. Rarely do I hear, how can I help? What can I do? I almost never see a hand stretched out over that pit, saying grab hold, let’s do this together. I’m here for you.
It is our humanness to see the world from our perspective from the stadium seats of life. Our view is different from every other seat; our reality is defined by where we are. My challenge for you today and in the coming days is just this… Change seats. Oh, and that comfy cushion you are sitting on leave it behind for the real deal experience.
