Honestly I Don't Usually Pay Much Attention to Criticism
Honestly I don’t usually pay much attention to criticism. Yes I listen, yes I hear, yes, I evaluate, yes I consider who and where it is coming from. Usually my next thought is, “Do they actually know the whole story, where whatever it has come from, what lies behind it. Have they walked the same paths, dealt with the same issues, seen the same things, do they come from a place of experience? Is the criticism coming from a place of love or is it from somewhere else, or from their perspective on the subject. Their belief system? Their cultural space? I always want to understand but I don’t get angry nor take it personally, usually. I pray for them, love them a little extra, forgive them, give them grace.I read a piece this morning attributed to Bob Goff it says.”Love has the kind of power that criticism only wishes it had.Where criticism attacks love mends.” Isn’t that awesome?Wouldn’t today be a better space to be if we all took that love angle just a bit further. Give love. Ask questions, get to know the other side of the dilemma. Keep an open mind, be willing to really listen to understand not comment. We don’t need to all be on the same platform to catch the train. We all have places to go and be and do. Perfection is not the goal, progress is.Who or what do you know that needs mending today? Today is a really good time and place to start.Love, Pam
