Matthew 14
I Could Not Sleep Last Night!
I could not sleep last night! Not because anything was wrong but because it was right! I hope you thanked the Father for that beautiful, sweet rain. I sure did and I pray there is more of it .
When you read Matthew 14At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus, and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist…, you know the fish and bread miracle, what do you remember the most about it? That over 5000 were fed? That a little boy provided the meal? That there was an abundance left over? That they were all “satisfied”? Me, too.
The thing we miss is that before all that happened, while everyone was still hungry. When the disciples were concerned and rightfully so. Jesus said ” YOU FEED THEM.” ” you give them something to eat. Their response was that there were only 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread available. Looked pretty meager for that kind of a crowd. The disciples did not understand or comprehend the power they possessed. Yes, they could have fed them or Jesus would not have told them to.
Do we forget that as followers of Jesus we are asked to do things that appear impossible? We don’t think we are capable of? Jesus, however , tells us ,“You can.” You feed them. You do this and that? I do not want to miss an opportunity and if he thinks I can then I’m all in. Yes, the water is deep, the mountain is high and I am terrified and inadequate, but he said for me to, so here I am, sleeves rolled up, boots on. Let’s do this!
I often wonder what happened to those 12 baskets full? In my mind, I see all those people walking back home handing out the leftovers to everyone they met. I can just hear them ” Man! You should have been there!”
It’s Monday! We can do this!
Love, Pam
