Another Week Has Made It's Rounds
Another week has made it’s rounds and here we are at Friday!! It comes with the promise of rain, but it also has a chance of disaster and uncertainty. The only weapon we have is prayer, pray for those in the path of this storm, pray for those experiencing natures fury. Pray for those who will run headlong into the aftermath as responders.
If you have a minute, may I tell you a little thing I learned last night? When bad things are happening that you seem to have no control over and can’t understand why or even how these things are upon you, I bet that you pray. You pray for answers, you pray for relief, you pray for peace but do you pray for the cause? The bad thing that happened, the disaster that came your way? Yourself? I realize that most of my prayers are prayed from a place of need, want, despair, heartache. I pray for me. That I would understand, get support, that it will be FIXED!!! What if I am praying for the wrong person, the wrong thing?
I know what my relationship is with my God. I believe it is good and healthy and well nourished. In other words, It is well with MY soul.” But what about the perpetrator of my despair? What about their soul, their relationship with the creator, what might they be going through that just happened to fall over onto me? Hmmmm… not a whole lot of that going on over here. I need to do better. I need to pray for the right person, the right situation, the right need. The bible tells us we are to PRAY for our enemies. No. Not for their downfall or demise or a stumped toe. For THEM. That they find Jesus, that they get the peace they need, that their needs be met. Their hearts changed. That goodness and mercy follow them all the days of their lives. Good thing is we do not need their permission to do so. So just have at it! We are told that if 2 agree and it’s within God’s will our prayers can change things, that includes “enemies’” Big change of plans in how I face a problem. Instead of praying for me, I’ll be praying for them. It’s a win either way. It either changes them or it changes me.
Be warned if you are my enemy today you are definitely on my prayer list. In fact I probably have given you the 3 top positions. I’ll be asking my friends to help me pray for you, too. Expect some changes to arrive shortly. God said it and I for one totally believe it.
Love, Pam
